Post-State Testing: Drama Review
The big day that nearly all public school teachers dread has finally come and passed, and for the first time all year, teachers can focus on lessons that are engaging for their students without the stress of missing a unit that will be tested. What I love about the days after state testing is that I can teach what my students want to learn.
I encourage teachers to use this time before the end of the year to read novels and books for enjoyment, to do projects where their students can choose their own topic, and to truly have fun and play games in class.
We are spending time reviewing our drama unit by allowing our students to create their own drama. For one and a half weeks, my students can choose their own drama and modify the script to their liking. They can also use the dialogue from their favorite book and act out a part of a chapter. They will then create props and a background scenery on Canva to display on our performance day. I also allow them to dress up in costumes that fit their characters.
What I love about this is that it allows my students to review a very important unit in a real-life way.
Let me know if you are reviewing drama and check out the website below for age-appropriate skits to use in class.
Happy teaching,
Adriana 💗
